Soft tissue massage techniques are aimed at releasing tissue tension. This ultimately improves the blood flow to the area as well as the balance of the local joints. There are a diverse range of soft tissue techniques because there are many different tissue types (e.g. bone, muscle, ligament, fascia, tendon, etc…). The soft tissue techniques either:
– increases the length of fibres thus lengthening the tissue,
– improves the fibres ability to slide past one another thus improving their suppleness,
– improves the fluid movement surrounding the fibres thus improving their resting tone.
